Pass the Keys® is working tirelessly to become a household name and the largest full-service short-let management company worldwide. With this in mind, we are pleased to announce the first move toward our international expansion strategy – our launch in Spain!
To find out more, we sat down with members of the senior leadership team: Duncan Rooney, Marketing Director, Amy Boyton, Sales Director, and Alex Lyakhotskiy, Founder and CEO of Pass the Keys® for a debrief on the company’s success…
Q: Tell us about Pass the Keys®
Duncan: Pass the Keys® was launched in 2015 to revolutionize the short-term rental industry in the UK by offering a full-service solution to homeowners who were unable to manage their own properties. We provide a hassle-free fully managed service, dealing with everything from guest communication to cleaning, linen, and invoicing. Our dedication to customer experience has resulted in Pass the Keys® today being the UK’s leading short-let management company, and the UK’s Most Trusted.
Q: How did you become a franchise?
Amy: After only a year of operating, we had established a reputation as the market leader. Using our proven business model, we launched as a franchise in 2019. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength, and within only 3 years, we have grown from zero to over 70 locations UK-wide.
Q: Why are you looking to launch in Spain?
Alex: There are over 200,000 Airbnbs in Spain. With our technology, proven systems, and processes we are very confident that we can replicate our success in the UK overseas – using our strong domestic presence as a backing for our international operations. Spain benefits from a high number of ex-pats, and British-owned holiday homes and therefore is a market with tremendous potential.
Q: Why is Pass the Keys® a great investment for potential franchisees in Spain?
Alex: We have a proven business model and operation playbook that transcends borders so that our franchise partners can hit the ground running – wherever they are based. Over the last 12 months, UK Hosts have earned an average of 180% net rent on the short-let market than they would have otherwise earned on the long-let market and we are confident that we can achieve similar results for Spanish homeowners.
Q: What differentiates your franchise from the competition?
Amy: A key differentiator is our best-in-class technology, which can be accessed from anywhere in the world. Short-letting is a complex business in many ways. Managing a large number of properties across multiple platforms with hundreds of guests, numerous clients and contractors is not easy. It requires a level of systems and technological investment that many of our competitors can’t compete with and this gives us a strong competitive advantage.
Q: What are the next steps for anyone interested in joining the franchise in Spain?
Alex: Now is the perfect time for those looking to start their own business, or expand a property management or cleaning business in Spain to gain a first-mover advantage in their chosen territory.
Anyone interested should book a meeting with Sabrina Hussain, our Franchise Partner Manager to find out more about the franchise, and discuss the market potential in their chosen area.
